I did receive this book in a giveaway from Goodreads and the publisher This is an unbiased review I would rate this biography on Katherine Manners Duchess of Buckingham as 35 to 4 stars I thought the overall writing of this book was well written with the author seeming to have done a lot of research on Katherine I found myself hooked through some of the chapters wondering what would happen in Katherine’s life nextA reason of why I’m in a mix and why I lean between 35 or 4 stars is because this is supposed to be a biography on her life and yet I saw no footnotes or bibliography of where the author found the information on Katherine the people she associated with or the events that were going on during that period of time I found this confusing as well since there were times throughout the book where she had uotes of what they may have said but with no footnote or reference to show where she got it from or even if that was how they felt or said And because of this at times the book would read like an historical fiction rather than a biography Overall I did enjoy reading this book and getting to know about someone in King James’s and King Charles’s court I found it interesting to see how her marriages affected her life along with how the two kings favors affected it

I received this book in Kindle format and found it hard to read It was dense and the chapters did not break nicely The story of Katherine Manners Duchess of Buckingham explores politics of 1600s England including the Plague the Irish Uprising and the rules of both James and Charles II am unclear if this is a biography or a historical fiction novel however As others have noted there are no footnotes or information on the sources that the information came from

Thanks go to Goodreads for randomly picking me as the winner of an ecopy of this bookA very good book I love biographies but as the previous reviewer wrote this read like historical fiction There are no references citing whatsoever Nonetheless the book kept me entertained and enthralled which is why I gave it 4 starsI knew absolutely nothing about the Duchess prior to the book
