So, this is a love story about a priest and a killer Yes, a killer, no other way about it A killer who kills only the ones that deserve it.actually, the ones he thinks deserve it, so from this you can conclude right away that you can t expect traditional love story here.I have to say, for someone who loves reading romantic books featuring priests it s mylet s call it kink or whatever this one was executed quite well, IMO Well, as in author clearly knows what he she is talking about wh So, this is a love story about a priest and a killer Yes, a killer, no other way about it A killer who kills only the ones that deserve it.actually, the ones he thinks deserve it, so from this you can conclude right away that you can t expect traditional love story here.I have to say, for someone who loves reading romantic books featuring priests it s mylet s call it kink or whatever this one was executed quite well, IMO Well, as in author clearly knows what he she is talking about when it comes to church or has done a research , and, for what I m particularly thankful, you won t find usual rhetorics regarding religion that can be found in LGBT romance religion is bad, church is all about hypocrisy and etc I m not saying those books are wrong It s the repetitiveness of it that s bothering me And I m glad that wasn t the case here Actually, there was no talk about whether religion and church is bad or not There was a question about murder and forgiveness, and I think Elias handled that quite well.Anywaythe characters were well drawn, there was a depth to them, even if they were not exactly likable Elias was not very passionate about his faith he wasof a by book type of priest , but still, I think that he too easily gave in to the demands of his body regarding Sebastian That was one of my niggles On the other hand, Sebastian was dark, in a way, which is expected, since the man who appoints himself a God judge and executioner on the Earth can t exactly be all sunshine and rainbow He was infatuated with Elias, and we were never given exactly the reason why, but that s just one of the things in this book author choose not tell us, or keep it obscure Like the moment when has lust between them turned to love But, while someone might rightfully so choose to see those as holes, I didn t see them that way I read this book like I was watching a film, and in films, you are, often than not, not told when protagonist fall in love or why, you just see it in them and their actions Of course, this way of telling a story doesn t always work, but for me, here, it did So, as you can see, what compelled me to keep reading was not the emotional investment on my part, but the unfolding of the story itself and the desire to see how exactly will author find a way for these two to be together I m aware I haven t said anything about the story itself, but this is a novella, and I know I d spoil it otherwiseAs I said, this is not a traditional love story and I m not sure it can be labeled as romance , so don t expect rainbows, fluff and picket fence for ES at the end, because it s anything but But the end is fitting somehowit s not the bittersweet, sad or anything like that It can even be considered a HEA in a morally completely unacceptable way But this is a fiction, and IMO, this was a good, worth reading, story. That was my opinion about the book itself And now, why I haven t rated this book I would probably rate it 3 or 4 stars latter if I choose to ignore editing mistakes , but I think my rating is quite unnecessary, since authorthan made up for it with his her 5 star ratingof their own story Without any mentioning that they are the author and not just the random reader which you would think when you read the review but you don t go advertising your book in GR group and than rate it 5 stars with same profile You don t rate your own work even with some other profile That sjust not right And if you don t know why, I don t know what to say
