While geared towards the parent with a special needs child this book is a wealth of information for anyone wanting to know about sleep sleep hygeine and finding ways of adjusting and fixing poor sleep patterns The information in here was repeated across many different sources of research that I've explored in the past in dealing with my own sleep issues and finding it all compiled in one source was amazing There was everything from the science behind sleep hormones healing mental health issues and the different causes of insomnia not exhaustive but a great list to sleep habits and hygeine and behavioural issues The book offered charts and checklists and a myriad of different ways to approach adjusting sleep to ensure everyone has the best chance of successThe book stresses the importance of parental and sibling health and mental health alongside that of the special needs child in uestion which I think a lot of resources miss There were entire sections dedicated to parents and siblings and helping them get in touch with what they're going through and finding the resources they need for support In the sections discussing celebrating success it was always stressed that the parent needs to celebrate their own success too not just the success of the childAs an added bonus there are a wealth of resources described throughout the book for both specific issues and items as well as broader supports The resources are specific to the UK which makes sense for a UK published book but offer a launch point for someone who is not in the UK to start looking from
