Intrigued I am by this Serious Play Modern Clown Performance is the first book of its kind to consider clowning performance venues and performance styles in the light of Play Theory and yet the author seemed too serious Really There did not seem to come out much play to engage and entertain the reader It seems as if the author is interested in play and might be coming from a serious background Perhaps he hopes that if he writes about play in the manner he does then he might give it respectability And yet he seems to stifle it a bit for meHowever if trying to come to terms with the importance of play and if you are a very serious theater person maybe this book would work for you There are other books that present the benefits of play in a engaging manner I have found for a businessperson educator or parentThese are my uickly composed thoughts on this matter before I set this book aside on Dec 5 2012 I am off to seriously study other books on play and performance I came back reviewed this review and edited it slightly on Mar 17 2018
