I won a copy of The Best Hanukkah Ever through a Goodreads Giveaway I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given. The Knoodle family is about to celebrate Hanukkah, but they are having trouble deciding what gifts are best to give to their loved ones They take the advice of their Rabbi, but something goes horribly wrong Will the family be able to discover the spirit of the holidays in time to salvage the remainder of Hanukkah I was not a fan of the illustrations, I won a copy of The Best Hanukkah Ever through a Goodreads Giveaway I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given. The Knoodle family is about to celebrate Hanukkah, but they are having trouble deciding what gifts are best to give to their loved ones They take the advice of their Rabbi, but something goes horribly wrong Will the family be able to discover the spirit of the holidays in time to salvage the remainder of Hanukkah I was not a fan of the illustrations, as they were sloppy and included stereotypical representations of Jewish people The story itself does not highlight Hanukkah at all, as the traditions that make the holiday special are barely mentioned At the heart of the story are the Knoodles, not one of them gracious enough in the reception of their presents They complain and fight, even blaming the Rabbi for his instruction I know there is a lesson here for children, about being grateful and appreciative of your family, but the message is lost in the delivery of the story For these reasons, I would not recommend The Best Hanukkah Ever to other readers

The concept was good but the characters were rather one dimensional and simple. The family hears their Rabbi say to give thought to their Hanukkah gifts Each draws a name and gives them a gift they, themselves, want The Rabbi comes over and straightens everything out explaining what he meant.

When the Knoodle family sets out to give the perfect Hanukkah gifts, something goes terribly awry The menorah is lovely, the singing is delightful, and the potato pancakes are delicious, but the presents are all wrong Papa Jack gets a flowery sun hat, big sister Shayna gets a box full of tree frogs, and little brother Yekl gets a pickle barrel Nobody can figure out what happened, but everyone agrees that Hanukkah is ruined Their only hope is some last minute advice by their rabbi See how th When the Knoodle family sets out to give the perfect Hanukkah gifts, something goes terribly awry The menorah is lovely, the singing is delightful, and the potato pancakes are delicious, but the presents are all wrong Papa Jack gets a flowery sun hat, big sister Shayna gets a box full of tree frogs, and little brother Yekl gets a pickle barrel Nobody can figure out what happened, but everyone agrees that Hanukkah is ruined Their only hope is some last minute advice by their rabbi See how the Knoodles save Hanukkah and learn how to give the perfect gift in The Best Hanukkah Ever.I will begin by saying that this was not my favorite holiday book My favorites are usually the ones that leave you crying at the end or have some super deep message with complicated symbolism My kids, on the other hand, thought that this book was awesome First of all, it s about a family called the Knoodles And let me be clear, you MUST pronounce the K separately or you have ruined the whole book The other names are great too, especially Yekl and Bubby Sadi who is the grandma Who hasn t wanted to call their grandma Bubby every now and then There is just a smattering of cultural information for the Christian kids who might be reading, and then the present mix up which is light and silly Finish it all up and a clear and relevant holiday message think of the receiver when you give a gift, not yourself and it s bedtime magic.http childrensbooksonadime.wordpres
