    The text is admittedly no great shakes, but I like the idea here Also, you really can t go wrong with Hiroe Nakata s art in a jovial picture book for the little ones, especially seeing as it s about DANCING.

    Summary Got to Dance is a simple and light hearted book about a girl who is bored at home and catches the summertime blues At first she is sad because there is nothing to do but then flips her attitude around and says that she s got to dance and enjoy the day She entertains herself by finding joy in simple things like flipping pancakes, playing with the hose outside with her grandpa, and bouncing on her soft bed all while dancing her blues away Themes One of the main themes in this book is Summary Got to Dance is a simple and light hearted book about a girl who is bored at home and catches the summertime blues At first she is sad because there is nothing to do but then flips her attitude around and says that she s got to dance and enjoy the day She entertains herself by finding joy in simple things like flipping pancakes, playing with the hose outside with her grandpa, and bouncing on her soft bed all while dancing her blues away Themes One of the main themes in this book is the importance of having a positive attitude and realizing that only you have control over it The little girl is noticeably sad at the beginning of the story when she is home during summer and has nothing to do She realizes quickly that she doesn t want to be sad so she says I ve got to dance and turns her day around by dancing around finding joy in everyday things That leads me into the second theme from this story enjoying the small things in life She finds joy in her mom making her dinner, her clean clothes, and even a summer shower Star Rating 5 StarsPersonal Response I personally love this book because it is very sweet and light hearted and has a really good meaning behind it despite its simplicity I really loved the part where her mom is singing and cooking dinner and the illustrations show everyone happy and dancing around in the kitchen This reminded me of my family when we would have music playing throughout the house and me and my siblings would help my mom cook dinner Recommendation I would definitely recommend this book to families with young kids because I think that it is a very sweet and fun book and encourages positive attitudes no matter the situation This could carry out into many different parts of young children s lives
